Evolution CEO calls AI live dealer a 'possibility' as RNG outperforms live for fifth straight quarter

Evolution chief executive Martin Carlesund stated that the launch of an AI-powered live dealer is a “possibility” for the company, describing the technology as a complement to its existing offerings rather than a replacement. The remarks came during the company’s Q3 2026 earnings call, where Carlesund also highlighted strong performance in its random number generator (RNG) product line.

AI positioned as a complement, not a replacement

Addressing the rise of artificial intelligence in gaming, Carlesund said Evolution is actively evaluating AI integration across the group. “AI dealer is a possibility – we are looking into that… we’ll see where we come with that,” he said. “It’s like an RNG live game, it’s a complement. I don’t think that it will take over live, as some people ask. But we are looking into that as well.”

Carlesund noted that the industry is seeing various attempts to use AI to disrupt live casino formats. AI start-ups, including Avanti Studios and Sentient Studios, are working on computer-generated games designed to reduce operational costs. These developers have primarily focused on blackjack as their initial proof of concept. Evolution, however, is taking a broader approach, working with AI throughout the group to evaluate progress or replace specific functionalities. “I want AI injections which I stated over the years. You need to look at where you can gain something from AI and you really push effective efficiency – and we’re happy with the progress of that,” Carlesund said.

RNG outperforms live casino for fifth quarter

Evolution reported rapid growth in its RNG product during Q3 2026. For the fifth consecutive quarter, the RNG division outperformed the company’s live casino offering. To support this growth, Evolution restructured its RNG division into a more independent unit. This unit is now under the oversight of Jonas Tegman, the founder of No Limit City.

The strong performance of RNG products coincides with Evolution’s expansion into the North American market. In September, the company announced the launch of a new US-focused studio named Spinning Whale. The first game from Spinning Whale is scheduled to launch next month, with additional titles planned for 2027. Carlesund confirmed that the content produced by Spinning Whale is specifically localized for a North American audience.

Analysts probe US strategy and legal overhangs

During the Q&A session, Ed Young, an analyst at Morgan Stanley, asked Carlesund about Spinning Whale’s strategy regarding low-volatility, land-based style games or potential partnerships with land-based intellectual property. Carlesund declined to answer that specific question.

Andrew Tam, an analyst at Rothschild Redburn, raised the status of Evolution’s ongoing lawsuit. The legal dispute involves private intelligence firm Black Cube and competitor Playtech. Tam suggested that investor feedback indicates Evolution may be keener to settle the lawsuit than the defendants. He described the case as one of the largest remaining share price overhangs for the company.

Carlesund responded that the litigation is ongoing. “We are in a full lawsuit with them, and that will continue as we go forward. I have no comments in the other direction. We are doing everything we can, and there’s new steps taken every day,” he said.

The earnings call also touched on previous regulatory and strategic decisions. Evolution previously reached a settlement with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) and decided to walk away from its acquisition of Galaxy Gaming.

Why It Matters

Evolution's strategic pivot toward RNG and AI-complemented products signals a shift in operational priorities for the live casino sector. With RNG outperforming live offerings for five consecutive quarters, operators and investors are watching how the company balances high-margin digital products against its core live dealer business. The launch of Spinning Whale in North America also marks a significant step in Evolution's localization strategy for the U.S. market.
